Pen and paper

This was my daily horoscope for today:

"When's the last time you used a pen and paper? In this day and age of computers, the keyboard has all but replaced these wonderful tools. In the same way that walking provides much more than fresh air, the kinesthetic value of the rhythmic motion in writing with a pen is far more soothing and even healing than most realize. Moving your hand across the page can feel good and unlock places within you that aren't always accessed by typing. Try it today. "
Although I'm a computer addict, I still love to write pen on paper. The above is so right! For me typing on my computer will never replace pen & paper completely, as e-books will definitely not replace real books.
I took the challenge and did some real writing today. Not a form or a list of errands but a letter, a story or a diary; you get the point. So I ask you: when did you do "real" writing? How often and for what do you use pen & paper?

What a coincidence, today I was given a leaving present from my boss (now ex-boss) of a lovely Waterman fountain pen. I intend to use it as much as I can. It is beautiful.

  3. I've always liked writing with a pen on paper. I have a collection of nice writing paper and notepads...I write a proper letter to my girlfriends regularly. It's so much nicer than email.

  4. I am actually going to write a thank-you note later tonight. I totally agree about pen and paper; I prefer roller balls to fountain pens, though.

  6. I love writing with pen and paper too and I especially love using my fountain pen. It is a nice change from typing everything out.

  7. I have not used it for so long, it hurts my fingers when I do. Crazy!

I am very addicted to my computer. When I first got it the first thing I did was put down the pen and paper. Now that it has been some years I actually miss it. To get back into using pen and paper, I've actually picked up a few penpals. With them I write each letter by hand. By the time I'm done my hand hurts but it's worth the time I've spent getting to know the pen and paper again.

  9. When did I last use a pen? Probably some time before may .. after that it has been a "can't be bothered" year for me - and just St. John's wort is seeing me through right now.

But right now is the time to dig out the ole pen again - and create my own Christmas cards!
