Earth Hour is today!!

VOTE EARTH

In December 2009 world leaders meet in Copenhagen to agree on a post-Kyoto policy for tackling climate change. One billion people voting with their light switch during Earth Hour will create a powerful mandate for our leaders to take strong and decisive action on climate change. Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

I'm switching off the lights tonight. What's your vote??

update 20.51u: The lights are off, the house is lit by candles. It gives a special atmosphere, warm and intimate. Not everyone understands (or wants to understand) why we are doing this. Ah well, we know why... We are the only ones in our street, pity! The neighbours must think our fuses have blown... ;-)

  3. The miscalculation of Earth Hour is that when it is Saturday 8.30 down here, you guys still had bright day light and vice versa. In practice it should have been 12 hours or so continuously. Anyway, I think the idea is great, but why not keep doing it instead of just during 1 hour/year. Leave the empty offices dark, kill the neon commercial lights for ever, etc.

  5. Great to know you participated. I understand there are a lot of people who don't get the message clear, probably due to the lack of info campaign they receive. the savings on electricity (though huge on a collective scale)isn't the lone issue here but it's the reduction of greenhouse effect to the environment that matters a lot. The main issue being confronted by the the Earth Hour is the global warming. I'm happy for those who supported. =)

  6. We participated. The grandkids were visiting and they didn't want the lights back on when it was over. They loved the candlelight.

  7. I missed Earth Hour. :-( I've been so forgetful lately it's not funny.

    How are you keeping?

And while I remember... I love your book shelf list. :-) I see a few new ones there I will now go look at. I have a book shelf up on my blog here: http://firstlight-michelle.blogspot.com/

It's on my side bar. I was going to recommend a book there, but you need to click on the "see more books" arrow. It's the Wicca Book and Tarot set. I love it. :-)
