Thirteen random things
I have no idea what theme to choose for this week, so I'm doing a random TT! In this post DK Raymer introduced me to the oldest blogger in the world: Olive Riley from Australia, who is... 107 years old! A remarkable woman, as you can see in this You Tube video. I added her blob (as she calls her blog) to my reader. I want to keep track of her! I have ordered a wonderful Freya statue. I found it on Marktplaats, a second hand selling website. The statue is new though and comes from Mystery Gifts, a store in Groningen I'd love to visit. I can hardly wait until the statue arrives! The coming weekend I'll have a two-day workshop with Marian Green in Amsterdam, this time with a little private group about divination and past life. I'll post about it afterwards of course. The first workshop I did with Marian was in November 2006. What's wrong with Photobucket?? Everytime I use it these days, I get bugged by pop-ups to register or log-in, that make Internet Explorer go crazy and in the end shut down. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! I'm a cat-blog fan. I read a lot of them and I love it, especially the pics and videos. For example yesterday I found this splendid picture of Daisy the Curly Cat on her blog and this video & photo of Dragonheart while bird watching. Just a few examples of the joy of visiting cat blogs. :-) Holland is known as the land of flowers. Since May this year we even have stamps with real flower seeds! They are beautiful and have tips on the side. Look here (sorry, text is Dutch). Last Friday it was exactly one year ago that I went to my first Robbie Williams concert. It was fabulous! I haven't seen or heard enough Robbie lately, I really need to get a DVD in the player right now! Wonder is still over here at our home to recuperate from his fall down the stairs. His back is a bit better, but he can't do much. Some days ago he got Tramadol, but that did him no good: he was like a zombie, scary! I was quite worried, but he has other painkillers now and sleeps a lot. This is supposed to be midsummer, but the weather doesn't agree at all. It is cold, wet and windy. I don't want a heatwave either but warm, dry and sunny would be nice for a change! Wimbledon has started this week. My favourite tennis tournament! I don't have personal favourites at the moment so may the best player(s) win! The Tour de France will also start soon (July 7), although without Lance it's not the same. Did I tell you I love to watch sports? ;-) I'd love to go to the Concert for Diana. I don't have tickets though, but I'm trying to win them. :-) I've always been an admirer of Diana, so the cause is close to my heart. And the list of performing artists is interesting to say the least. Rumours are Robbie will join Take That on stage. We'll see... I'm still looking for something to give as a handfasting present. Any ideas? Please let me know!
Pfew, coming up with random things isn't as easy as expected, but I found 13 of them... ;-) ~*~*~*~ Links to other Thursday Thirteens!

Hey, my husband's been to Groningen on business!
ReplyDeleteHappy TT.
I think my cat secretly keeps a blog, but she won't let me read it. ;)
ReplyDeleteIts supposed to be summer so why am I wearing my winter coat to walk to and from work? I'm not a clothes horse but I bought a really nice shirt for warm weather and so far I've had it off the hanger once. Still no danger of a drought at the moment...
ReplyDeleteI KNOW my cats keep a blog, I keep coming home to find Firefox open to blogger!
ReplyDeleteI love watching Wimbledon and the Tour de France. Not as much as boxing, but I still love them.
Since you're reading for fun you should join my Beach Blanket Bonanza challenge. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy TT.
Is the handfasting part of an engagement party or a wedding? My understanding of the practice is it could be done at either. If it's the former, what about a nice engraved picture frame like this one: http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_591386_-1_1
ReplyDeleteHappy TT!
Okay, the link didn't come through properly last time.
ReplyDeleteMy TT this week is about Turkish Vans specifically the two wonderful kittens that came to live with us.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to go to the Diana concert too! Great random TT, and have a goodly weekend .. :)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting list! Happy T13!
ReplyDeleteAir Force Wife
Hiya Tink -- My mother in law is a HUGE tennis fan and was anxiously awaiting Wimbledon -- then the power went out! :(
ReplyDeleteWhat is handfasting?
Really nice matching pens for the handfasting ceremony?? I love to give pens and paper to people...
ReplyDeleteAnd YES to the Tour de France! I'll soon be out on my road bike, dreaming I was younger, fitter, crazier... and a guy.
Happy TT, Tink! Glad to hear you're liking Colleen's books; I just volunteered to review them. Stay tuned for that.
I like sport as well, unfortunately Wimbledon gets shown too late at night over here in Australia, so I probably won't get to see much of it.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have someone blog who has experienced a century of changes!
ReplyDeleteOoh, thanks, Tink! Can't wait to hear what you think about what happens at the end.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get back into TT's again, darn it.I miss all of you TT-ers.
Oh my, Robbie! The cutie bought me the latest Take That but it's not much without this cutie :-)
ReplyDeleteI missed Wimbeldon today but I hear Serena was awesome, hopefully I can catch some tomorrow.
No theme needed this week darlin', the list was great!
Wow, 107 and still blogging? How great is that!?!
ReplyDeleteI love watching sports too!

Hmmm, I wonder whether my kitty keeps a secret blog !!
ReplyDeleteCat blogs are fun, and Dragonheart's is wonderful.
Great list.
Take care, Meow
Those stamps are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you liked my photo. It was such a fun photo shoot because I got to walk around on the glass table scarfing up Temptations while my Mommie rolled around on her back under the table trying to take photos. It was funny!
Same weather here ! it's just awful ! Have you ever been on my cat blog ? (my cats and funny stories) I have a little kitten of 7 week, real cute ! Robbie Williams has been very sick (drugs) that's why we don't hear much of him. To the concert for Diana I would like to go too ! I was in London just after she died it was terrible ! Never have seen so many flowers in my whole life !
ReplyDeleteI love random TT!
ReplyDeleteI have wondered what is going on with Photobucket myself. GRRRRRRRRR
Happy TT!
I love the Freya statue! Where will you put her?
ReplyDelete*sigh* It's cold and rainy and windy here in Germany, too. I suspect the weather gods have been testing my resolve to go on daily walks. It would probably be a good idea to just get a raincoat and rubber boots, but that takes all the challenge out of it. :)
Freya is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteWow! A blogger who's 107 years old! Pretty interesting! I'm heading off to read her stuff :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday dear!
I want to hear all about the workshop so please do post after it's over.
ReplyDeleteHappy TT!
Wow Olive is fantastic! What a cool lady!
ReplyDeleteHe, he, those random lists are always really hard, aren't they? ;o)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were a Robbie fan, that's interesting. I used to be, but have kinda lost track of what he's doing lately. But I still like to listen to his older stuff and would love to go to a concert again some day.
And thanks for the link to Olive Riley's blog! She really seems to be an amazing woman. I wanna live as long as she does, too. So far, so good I'd say. LOL
I really like that Freya statue, but I can't read a blessed word of that site...I wonder if they have one of Cerridwen? And do they ship to the states?
ReplyDelete(a fun TT, BTW)
I tried to help my kitty keep a blog...she decided she didn't want it anymore...or was that "The Hubby"?
ReplyDeleteBTW, Olive Riley is my new hero!
Happy TT!
Liked your list!
Great list, happy TT!
ReplyDeleteThe concert looks like it will be a great one! Happy TT =)

Wow, 107 years old? That's great! Thanks for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to the Concert for Diana too...I wish! Oh and a lot of my friends have read the Colleen Gleason book, I'm gonna have to come back and see just how much you liked/disliked the book. I'm sure you'll like it, it's very popular these days!
Happy TT!
We always find the cat at the spare (old) laptop... But she must know how to clear her history and cache. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for passing on the introduction to Olive though her site's link is not loading.
ReplyDeleteAs always...
Oh yeah, I vote for something practical, something that will be used and that they both can use.
Good luck on those Diana tickets....Happy TT.
ReplyDeleteThat Olive lady is awesome! 107 years old and blogging. Incredible :)
ReplyDeleteRobbie Williams? Did he used to be in the group Take That?
I enjoyed your random bits. I will have to check out the Aussie lady's blog. She must have tons of things to share.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh.....Freyja the lovely Norse Goddess, The Great Goddess, sister of Freyr and daughter of Njord. She is the Mistress of Cats, Leader of the Valkyries, a shape-shifter, a Sage and so much more. Her number is 13. Very appropriate to appear in a Thursday 13 post. :o)
Yes, I have a great fondness of the Norse Pantheon. :o)
Tink! I haven't done a T13 list in about 3 weeks, but I had to drop by and see how you're doing. I can't believe you mentioned me in your list this week - Thanks! I wanted to let you know that I gave you a bloggy award today. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
DK
A Flyover Blog
What a whirlwind of stuff. Now that's what I call random! I think I'll have to start calling my blog a blob, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blob!
