TT #35: oracle cards

Thirteen oracle carddecks I own

I love oracles in any shape or form. I use several, but I also like to collect them. For this TT I'm listing thirteen non-tarot oracle carddecks. Tarot is a fixed format, in oracle cards the form is more free to the maker. The bold links lead to the items in my library on LibraryThing.

I have more decks, but I had to limit myself here to thirteen. :-)

I have a Rider Tarot deck, but I have to admit I don't know what to do with it. I did find a cool Tarot website that explained all the cards. That's as far as I got.

I have to say I'm impressed with this list.

Happy TT. My list is up on 13 ways I am trying to be green.

  3. I had no idea there were so many oracle cards...I've had my cards read ina common deck of playing cards and in tarot. I am so amazed at the others you have listed here...what a world of reading this must be. How do the cards differ from playing cards I wonder as it's possible to see the relationship between tarot and game cards.

  4. I like the header picture ;)
Is there a difference by the way, between Tarot and Oracle decks? If so, what? Just the termination, or...?
I have the Ancestral Path tarot.

  5. Lots of interesting oracles! The Druid Animal Oracle sounds very cool. Is there something special about dolphins or do you just like them?

Thanks Tink for stopping by my blog and for the advice on the Tarot deck. I'm going to try it. I've taken several classes from a psychic in order to learn how to write a pyschic character. (The pyschic is also an author). It amazed me how much information there is and how little I actually knew.

I'll probably be stopping by for more advice and knowledge from you.
    Thanks!

  16. Hey, Tink! I'm intrigued by this oracle stuff; it's interesting that it's different from Tarot (I have a King Arthur tarot set, myself. Love it.). And so many inspired by dolphins, or is that because you like dolphins?

Thanks for visiting today. No, you don't want to hear my answers about achieving balance -- I just shut up and don't think about any of it. Sort of the muddle approach, I suppose.

  29. I love looking at the art on tarot and oracle decks. those dolphin ones sound really great as I feel a special connection to dolphins. I used to collect dolphin pics and nicknacks and will again once i have my own home. dolphins come to me in my dreams. they became a symbol of joy for me. I've been working on a 12x16 inch crosstitch of a mother and baby dolphin swimmng under a sunset from a painting by Christian Riese Lassen for the last six years.

I am very interested in the symbolixm and metaphor embodied in tarot cards. One of the books I had to return unfinished yesterday was The Forest of Souls by Rachel Pollack. I was researching tarot because one of my fictional characters is into it. Do you know some good resources online that could help me? I have The Goddes Tarot by Kris Waldherr which my husband who is into Wicca and AmerIndian Shamanism bought me in 2000 but I really don't do much with it besides looking at the gorgeous artwork.

my TT this week was 13 things i have been neglecting to an embarrassing extent since recieving news of the impending library closure four months ago. The next couple months is going to be focused on getting balance back in my live now that the library doors are locked.
